    Welcome to the second issue of the Augustus Times! We have some more interesting things coming to you in this issue of the Augustus Times. Firstly, I would like to apologize for a few mistakes that were made in the last issue of the Augustus Times. I would like to rectify them here:

    Last issue I stated that we had a few veteran Romans coming back. There were two that I left out. Welcome back Dave Mantis and The Nimbus! Semper Fidelis, my fellow Romans!

    Finally, before we get right into this Issue, I have a few announcements to make. My first, The Augustus Times Terminal is up and running! In the Terminal it will automatically give you the most recent issue if that is what you choose. This terminal also allows you to pick and choose from previous issues released! It is only allowed to be used by Discens and Enlisted members of New Rome and will be located next to the back door in the Roman Lounge. My final announcement, I have decided on a time period as to when the Augustus Times will be released. It will be released the Thursday night into Friday morning the week of the State of The Empire meeting. This way Romans have something to read as they’re drinking their morning Vigorium, relaxing in the lounge.

                                                                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~
[Roman News]
    Now, what’s been going on with New Rome? There has been a lot that happened in the past two weeks around the Empire. We’ve had a few promotions just recently. Congratulations to Obtinus, Renegade, and Grave! Obtinus was promoted to that of Elitus, now entering the non-commissioned officer ranks, Renegade was given Principes, and Grave has been promoted to that of Decanus. Besides that of promotions, the training officers of Rome has also introduced a few new members to the Empire: Fred Kinski, Lucifer (who has already jumped to that of Discen III), and Tuesday Twist. Welcome, fellow Discen! There was also a graduating class just recently from the Discen group, welcome to our newest Legius, Ulysses!
    Just recently, the officers of Rome took a field trip across the Teen Grid. They’ve noticed that there are old memorials of TG militaries scattered through the Teen Grid. This sparked something in the officers of Rome, so they decided to get an outpost in Alloy. Thank you to Krypt for donating the tier to the group, as he was able to purchase and deed the Alloy land to the Empire…but there may be more to come…if any of you old Romans remember, this land hosted a large Roman airstrip and many, many, many Talon/Spartan/BM/Roman battles. So stay tuned to see what happens with this slice of the grid.
    Speak of many raids back in the good ol’ TG days, right after the last State of the Empire on April 9th, Dreadspyke opened the Sims to the public. He continued to explain that both Sims will be using a capture the flag system. There are 8 flags scattered around the Sims, 4 in each sim. This isn’t going to be the normal combat that the typical Roman is used to. It’s going to be chaotic and erratic. There are a lot of different platforms in the sim for many different “levels” of combat, from low to high.
                                                                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~

[Foreign News]

    Valix’s sim is temporarily closed. They are under construction. Coercion, on the other hand, has unbanned every single Roman from their sim so we are allowed to go there and attack as we please. This being said, with unrelated news to Foreign Affairs, The project the Roman Diabetus will soon be put into production, allowing the shooting of cheeseburgers at any Roman foe. Looking forward to this little project! Nom, nom, nom…

    Alliance Navy has reworked their spawn system. They have a new spawn building. In addition, with continued effort between Rome and AN, Liberty Heaven has been disconnected from Badnarik and Vanmoriel.

    Fray Land is now open to the public, which is being hosted on the sim called Gryffindor.

    That’s that for the foreign news…not much to report on here this week.

                                                                                                        ~~~~~~~~~~~
[Business]
    The Opus Hub continues to release and develop products for Romans and civilians. Within the past couple of weeks, they have been working on something called a Needler…I’m not sure what that is, but I guess we’ll find out? Something hot and fiery is on its way to the Opus Hub, and no, it’s not the lava Rome usually resides on. Project Sol. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?
    The Roman marketplace has a few new weapons for purchase. The Emperor has just released a new weapon, a newer…better version of the old fashioned Roman Gladius. This version has a high rate of fire, with a grenade launcher attached that will completely decimate armored ships. It is in the marketplace for cheap, so grab it now while you can!
    Finally…I heard there is something about an Art of the Machine appearing in the near future? What is that…? Ars…Machina? Stay tuned on future Augustus Times to find out!
                                                                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~

[Warfare]

    Romans like to go on many raids throughout the week, but these past two weeks were most notable for many reasons. Rome did a six and a half hour raid on April 8, 2016 against various different militaries. This brought some questions into the mind of a few Romans, that question was: what is Rome’s longest raid in its history? We did a 72 hour raid against BM back in the day, how exhausted! Well, that’s a Roman for you…they never give up, no matter how hard the fight.

     In the last issue, I discussed the Battle of Three, well the Emperor in the last State of the Empire announced to all of his Romans that he will be producing badges, starting an accolade system for New Rome. He handed out multiple badges for Romans who partook in the Battle of Three a couple weeks ago. Congrats to: Rai, Morphieas, Sergei, Grave, and Dave Mantis.

    Just the other night, on April 18, 2016, Coercion decided to raid Rome. At first for a little while, Coercion was capturing our flags and pushing the Romans back, but that didn’t stop us! This just made us fight harder to recapture our flags and push Coercion back into Kemet.

                                                                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~
[Mechanicus]
    This is a temporary section that is being added into this issue of the Augustus Times, as there is some news on the Mechanicus Section of New Rome. First of all, we have a new content creator: Dave Mantis, welcome! Dave specializes in graphic design. I can’t wait for some of the products you will be releasing for Rome! Secondly, the Throne room has been finished…don’t you dare go in there, you guys! The Opus Hub is also working on developing a fully meshed 1911 donated to us by JohnnCandy. This will be put up for sale in the Opus Hub in the near future. Finally, a new shield wall has been released for the beta version of our combat interface.
    Kion is hard at working continuing to make his never ending arsenal of weapons. One weapon will be shocking, another will be sharp and pointy, a third a regenerating approach to a weapon, and one that just bounces off the walls!
