As you all are probably aware, I have skipped an issue. That was a slow couple of days for us Romans. We didn’t even have a State of the Empire…but that being said, here is the Third Issue of the Augustus Times! In this issue I have a lot of different things that I am going to discuss as well as some feature articles from Brother Lucifer.
I have one announcement. Last issue I stated that Augustus Times will be released one to two days before the State of the Empire meetings on Saturdays. That is no longer the case. The new release date will be anywhere from Sunday to Wednesday after the State of the Empire. I feel that this will give Romans something else to look forward to right after the fun filled State of the Empire meetings on Saturdays! (We all know us Romans love to raid just before or just after the meetings.)

[Roman News]
Although we haven’t been as active as we would like to be in the past couple weeks, it was nice to see Morphieas and some other Romans still actively raiding on a regular basis.
Within the past couple of weeks, we have recruited five new Discen to join our forces! One of those Discen came from the game Reign of Kings. This is a first step into our goal from breaking away from the SLMC and branching off to some other games, since the SLMC is growing smaller and smaller and smaller over time.
During the various different raids that occurred, a Discen has finished her raid time and was promoted to that of Legius. Congrats Sister Maize.
Dread would also like to make a quick announcement. Dread states that he is urging all Romans to get on to the Teamspeak when possible, even if you’re not talking or not doing anything. Just idle there. Hop into the off-duty, or into an office if you have one, or into afk. It’ll show that there is a presence in the Teamspeak. When other Romans start to get on, anyone already on the Teamspeak will be able to see that and they can then start talking amongst each other.
That has been a public announcement from Emperor Dreadspyke himself, brothers and sisters! There’s not much more to discuss in this section of The Times, but continue to read on ahead for some more juicy and interesting stories!

In the past couple of weeks, there has been some changes around the Second Life Military Community. One of those was a pact formed by Coercion and T’Koi. The article below gives us a grasp as to what’s going on.
The Coercion & T’Koi Pact
Article by Brother Lucifer
“As of Today, May 22nd 2016, T'koi and Coercion have entered into a ‘FireFight Pact’ together against the Forces of New Rome. We not only share them as a common Enemy but New Rome has done more to us than Coercion"
As the quoted declaration stated above, T'Koi stated their choice to seek an alliance with Coercion against New Rome, who, according to them, "has done more to us than Coercion". Suffice to say, it's wild claims with unsupported facts that remain doubtful in the light of looking at the actions committed by either of their forces.
Furthermore, while it's ever so "honorable" for them to take a stance against the might of New Rome, it's a pity that they need a Pact to oppose us. Along with that, it's also a suicide that damages SLMC at large with the interests in pursuing Apathy Raids so as to try and break our Divine Might and Will. Against any other group, and with success, the destruction of any group, at this time, makes one less group to exist as an opportunity to oppose. It removes another component to ALL groups' reason for existence; to fight.
To all who worry, don't. Those who don't, you know well of the fools that continue to play their role and prove their poisonous qualities that lessen the potential for SLMC's recovery. We can anticipate the coming weeks and see if they will hold to their promise, and we will return in full, and in this, we will strengthen our resilience and our bond in the adversity. They will be reminded who New Rome truly is.

Opus Hub
Samgame and his crew continues to work on the Opus Hub and their products. There is not much to update you guys on in this section of the Times, but keep a look out for some of their projects as they are released in the future!
New Rome Website
Inquistor Syla and I have been hard at work at the brand new website we have been creating the past couple of weeks. http://newromeempire.com is going to feature an about page, forums, an application page, Enlisted only section for various documents, and much more. The website is somewhat up and running, but it is still a work in progress. Check back over time to see if anything has changed with the website!

Although there was a lapse of activity in the previous session of New Rome (the weeks of the skipped State of the Empire), there wasn’t much of that this week. A few Romans stepped up their games and began recruiting some Romans into different crusades. They showed the enemies of New Rome who’s boss with several successful raids and crusades on the enemy. One notable set of events were that of what I like to call The Great Minute Crusades. This occurred on May 12, 2016 and happened three times for a total of three minutes of raiding.
The Great Minute Crusades
Article by Brother Lucifer
Amidst experimenting some ideas by hoping SLMC sims, Sam, Morph and I found ourselves at Coercion's base. Although we had little intention for a serious engagement, and decided to pull out and head back to Gallala, Coercion's logic equated our departure as out of fear. Their joking about us not staying for a minute, adding humor of "at least it's longer than you last in bed" while contradicting that humor by prodding the writing we threw into The Fray, did spark the initial idea of 60 seconds going into combat there and leaving.
Coercion, being how they are, were inclined to mock the action, all the while we sincerely sought to have mere fun and cheap laughs. Add in wit to writing the summary to the report, and sharing this humor to others, some laughs even from their all-too-serious-yet-still-simply-trolls group even were amused by it. Being that it was written by a Roman, a number of members were simply inclined to find it terrible because of that, and probably took it to heart and will express how it hurt their feelings at the next therapy session.
Although three one-minute bouts of venturing forth make for the conclusion of this evening, I'm certain continual, though irregular, bouts of these One Minute Crusades will give way to just poke at them for the Hell of it. This will certainly perpetuate delusional conspiracy ideas of being a mere excuse to cover up out initial departure, when, in truth, we all seek to have fun, have some laughs, and enjoy our time in Second Life, the SLMC, and, most importantly, New Rome.
With our newest Legius, Mazie, a group of 10 Romans raided Coercion in about a two-hour long battle. This occurred on May 17th. Some notable actions in this battle were by Solid, being the madman he is, completely destroyed Grave’s sitbase armor, making it practically unusable. Morphieas focused on Coercion’s church area of their region with his heavy firepower, continuing to push the Coercion back with their tails between their legs.
There were some other raids within the weeks leading up to our May 21st State of the Empire. These raids occurred on May 18th and May 19th. The May 18th raid was against Valix, and lasted about an hour long. Most of the hour consisted of a stalemate between Rome and Valix, with each side pushing the other back and forth. Eventually, Morphieas made his way into the central nervous system of their base, where he continued to slaughter the enemies of Rome. His perception of time was off, making him go stir crazy. Morphieas, my good friend, please come see me as soon as possible for a medical evaluation, thank you!
The May 19th raid, we had a new Discen with us! Firebear was able to gather over an hour’s worth of Discen raid time. Congratulations Discen, this is your first step into becoming one of the brothers. This raid was against Silver Hawk and lasted 90 minutes. The Silver Hawks were ready for whatever we threw at them. With the Romans outnumbered, we struggled a little to push into their base. They resisted our forces for a little while, but maintaining our strong presence we were able to force them back. Sergei managed to reach the inside of their base, which turned the tide of battle into our favor. Firebear, although struggled at first with the learning curve which is that of the Second Life damage system did a fantastic job. Glad to have you in our forces Firebear!

Samgame has been hard at work the past couple of months to get the new Vox HUD up and running. I was able to play with it the other day. There are some really cool features. For example, when a new deployable is released, you can simply rez the box that it’s in and it’ll automatically add into the contents of the HUD. Once this happens the HUD will automatically reset and a new icon will be added on the HUD for the deployable. Samgame below explains the HUD in some more detail.
Fresh out of the Mechnicus’ forge, comes the new Vox HUD 2.31! This is one of the Mechanicii’s greatest accomplishments, giving Romans in the field an unprecedented level of fighting prowess, and advanced technology. The new HUD will outfit every Roman with completely new grenades, mines and deployables, which can be deployed into battle via gesture or chat!
Of course the new HUD still retains the Vox functionality of grid-wide communications, marketplace and denarii, but also comes with an all-new dodge-roll mechanic! The new dodge-roll will forgo making you ‘bounce’ up slopes, dodging into mid-air, and even the infamous dodge-jump. Instead of all of these things, you will now smoothly move up or down transitions and you’ll be able to dodge across small gaps with precision.
Probably the greatest new feature in the HUD is that you will now able to buy weapons/items for your own personal Armoury! The HUD will allow you to purchase new deployables and explosives, installation is as easy as rezzing a cube! Once rezzed a bought plugin box will automatically add the purchased item to your HUD, and if available will give you an optional dedicated gesture for that item.
And you can all breathe a sigh of relief, the new HUD has been implemented with an updater! Meaning it will receive dedicated development and continued updates, for bug-fixes, patches, new features, and continuous new items!
This HUD has been a long time in the making, and a lot of strides have been made to make sure that our technology is efficient and low-impact. (Address complaints of the old HUD using too many scripts.) If you find any error or bugs, please message Mechanicus Ro-Man (Samgame Bertrand) immediately outlining what’s happened, also if you have any suggestions or have noticed any typos whilst using the HUD, please list them in a notecard and send to Mechanicus
