                                                                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~
[Roman News]
                Let us begin with the most recent of Roman news as The Augustus Times is going to move on forward from here on out. With this past State of the Empire, Rome has shown to continue to grow, despite what those pesky Coercion members seem to say about us!
                Recently, we’ve had a few veterans return to New Rome: Crimzon Fanwood, Renegade Shriner, Zeak Resident, Seekreet Snook, Ulysses Abrahams, and Jinn Zhora. We also brought in a handful of new Discen as well! With the fantastic work of Drill Instructor Morphieas Resident, these handful of new Discen are hard at work training to become the best Romans that they can possibility become.
                In the past couple of weeks, Tribunus Grau has been working hard on creating and putting together the new skybase. As it stands right now, it is near completed. All that remains is the final touches and we’re set! In addition to the skybase in Vanmoriel, Lord Dreadspyke has set up a capture the flag system that we’re going to be utilizing on defenses in Gallala of Kimet and Vanmoriel, and Lord Reese has set up a few spawn points for Romans to get around the sim.
We recently also hosted a tournament that would declare the current Champion of Rome. Through many hard fought duels, the ultimate victor was Tesserarius Kion, claiming the title of “Champion!” Congratulations Kion.
Congratulations to the members of Rome who were recently given a promotion!
          -Crimzon Fanwood and Jinn Zhora; Roman Tesserarius
          - Brother Blackflag; Roman Triarius
          -Brother Mocha Bear; Roman Centurion
          -Champion Kion; Roman Elitus
         -Dave Mantis; Roman Legius (explained later in this Issue)
                                                                                                     ~~~~~~~~~~~

[Foreign News]

                It has been reported that Kartus has been destroyed. Their primary focus has shifted to DayZ. Recently, Alliance Navy has been utilizing the science fair in an attempt to pull in extra members in a vain recruitment effort, reports indicated that this effort has been ineffective.
                As most of you are aware, a lot of Romans have been banned from Coercion’s sim, Silversand. Negotiations on the matter are to follow in the near future.

                                                                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~
[Business]
                The Opus Hub, which is being headed by DJ12 and Sergei, is a way for New Rome to interface with the general public to create and actively improve our public/foreign relations. It’ll do this by providing information to the general public the nature of SLMC as a whole, while providing a great opportunity to increase, not just our recruitment pool, but our pool of affiliates and contacts all around the grid. In fact, I was able to sit down with DJ Paine and have an interview with him in regards to what the Opus Hub is about and some of their great products that they have for sale:
Reese: So I'm here with Elitus Paine, the creator of the Opus Hub.
Reese: DJ, when was the Opus Hub created?
DJ12 Paine: Its first inception was October of 2015.
Reese: And was it just yourself that thought of it or were there other Romans who wanted to do this with you?
DJ12 Paine: The main idea came from myself, I am a huge follower of tech companies like Google and Apple and I had the idea to bring the concept from real life to SL.
Reese: You and Sergei are currently heads of the Opus Hub, when did Sergei join in?
DJ12 Paine: Well he is the head of research and development, he came in around the time the first vendors came up which was around November of 2005.
DJ12 Paine: 2015 excuse me
Reese: Interesting.
DJ12 Paine: Samgame is currently the vice CEO of Opus he created the store and the vendor system we have to help sell our products to customers to enjoy.
DJ12 Paine: He and Sergei have been very important to Opus and I hope they will continue on with their work in Opus.
Reese: Samgame and Sergei seem to be doing a fine job assisting with the spreading of the Hub as well as its operations.
Reese: You mentioned earlier that Samgame created the store. How many do you have up currently and what can you expect us to find in the store(s)?
DJ12 Paine: So at the moment we have only one store. However we have vendor locations Like Lutra City that hold our vendors.
DJ12 Paine: And we expect to have 3 stores before the end of next year.
DJ12 Paine: We are already doing concepts on a flagship store, that any group or vendor can have set in, including our of course.
DJ12 Paine: As far as products
DJ12 Paine: We have weapons like the shotgun for 200L a very good deal and we also sell t-shirts for those who want to have a cool looking AV but also show love for the empire.
DJ12 Paine: We are all about cool products, effective products for good prices.
DJ12 Paine: So our customers come back again and again.
DJ12 Paine: That’s our thinking behind it.
Reese: Besides the T-shirt and the weapons, what else is there for people to purchase?
DJ12 Paine: We have some tattoos and an armor set.
DJ12 Paine: We take time with each release we wanted to get the main SLMC stuff done.
Reese: Each release of a new set of products?
DJ12 Paine: We want to make a variety of products so everyone can enjoy something.
DJ12 Paine: Every month or so we put out new products to entice our customers with new products.
DJ12 Paine: And too keep interest high
DJ12 Paine: We realize that there is a wide gamete of customers.
DJ12 Paine: Those who like shirts, weapons, vehicles, etc.
DJ12 Paine: And we want those markets
Reese: What are the price ranges on typical Opus Hub products?
DJ12 Paine: Depends on the product type.
DJ12 Paine: Like weapons tend to be more expensive obviously.
DJ12 Paine: But our goal has and will always be,
DJ12 Paine: To make good products for good prices.
DJ12 Paine: The most expensive weapon is like 250l
Reese: Not bad.
DJ12 Paine: Yeah.
Reese: Yes, I agree with you that there are a variety of people that like different types of products. This being said is there any way your costumers can send in suggestions for stuff they may like to see in the future?
DJ12 Paine: Of course.
DJ12 Paine: In fact we have a customer’s area that anyone can join.
DJ12 Paine: And get updates and of course send in suggestions.
DJ12 Paine: We are open to almost anything.
Reese: Well, it seems like we're short on time here. I appreciate you sitting down with me to get an inside look of what the Opus Hub is all about.
Reese: We have a few more minutes and I have a few more questions.
Reese: What type of products are you currently working on right now?
DJ12 Paine: Well one I can tell you now because we are releasing it soon is a pair of melee weapons like a sword and katana.
DJ12 Paine: That we will sell for a great price.
DJ12 Paine: As for beyond that.
DJ12 Paine: I can’t say for the time being because we believe secrets and surprises are what people like.
Reese: I love surprises, it's always so fun to see what something has to offer without knowing beforehand.
Reese: Gets the costumers excited for what's next.
DJ12 Paine: Exactly in fact our goal is to be as secretive about our future as the CIA is secret hahaha.
Reese: And my final question for the day. What is the future of the Opus Hub look like to you?
DJ12 Paine: The future of the Opus in my eyes is an area that allows all areas of life to enjoy all types of good products and have a sprawling area for people to hang out, listen to music, and see what SL and the SLMC has to offer.
DJ12 Paine: Maybe even a content creator conference similar to Google's I/O or Apples WWDC.
Reese: That would be interesting.
Reese: Well, Elitus Paine, good luck to you and everyone else in the Opus Hub project.
Reese: May your Hub bring happiness and excitement for all of SL to enjoy.
DJ12 Paine: Thank you.
DJ12 Paine: That I hope so too.
Reese: Well, this is Tribunus Reese, signing off the air with the first exclusive interview of the returning Augustus Times!
There you have it, my fellow Romans! This has been an inside picture of what the Opus Hub is all about. Continue to check in on each Issue of the Augustus Times for more info on the Opus Hub!
[Warfare]
                As all of you are well aware, Rome likes skirmishes. We nearly go on daily raids and have daily defenses. Just the other day on April 4, 2016, Rome raided Silver Hawks. There were a handful of Romans who raided ranging from Discen all the way up to Tribunus. The Romans continued to push back the Silver Hawks throughout the entire raid. At the end, the Romans were victorious! Nice work from everyone, including our new Discen Dave Mantis. The battle lasted approximately an hour.
                During this past week, Romans also found a newer army hiding out in Fistral Beach, Valix, which is led by GINGA Deed and appears to be a sub-group of Coercion. According to their leaders they were given assistance by Coercion in scripting their technology.
                Their base is completely indoors, with all sorts of corridors and open space for everyone to fight in. It brought back a sense of nostalgia from the Teen Grid Romans when battles were simple. No armored vehicles, and just fighting someone until we pushed them back and into submission. The battle lasted approximately two hours until the Roman squad pushed Valix back into their spawn and an access wall was thrown up. Again, great work from the Romans who fought in that battle!
                Our longest and most glorious battle just occurred on April 4, 2016 and lasted approximately four and a half hours. Called “The Battle of Three”, it was a Roman raid against Chaos and Coercion. It started off with a handful of battle ready Romans as they stormed Milopolis. More Romans jumped in to support their fellow brothers as the fiery battle continued on. The massive Roman battle has been summed up by Tribunus Grau with such elegance. The account of the battle is as followed:
“PREFACE:
                New Roman Forces, returning home from a previous raid, were greeted with taunts from a lone Chaos grunt. The Legions serving under the Emperor would not allow such heresy. Milopolis, the simulator that served as a home for this anti-Roman scum quickly became a target for the Empire to cleanse. What resulted was one of the most legendary battles to be recorded in the archives of New Rome.
SUMMARY:
                War-captains of the Empire began the assault with substantial ferocity. Thermal flares scarred the battlefield from the moment of injection. It was evident that Chaos forces were prepared for the engagement, their own artillery creating a hail of blight. Weaving between the fire of screeching bolts, Romans moved into the adjacent sides of the field. Both flanking positions were secure. The terrain in this simulator was barren and lifeless, yet riddled with toxic bog swamps. Typical for a warped land inhabited by the servants of plague-born Chaos. In the far corner of the sector stood a burrow that housed the heretics (*1). With little effort, the inhabitants were slain (*2). Cries were heard from even the farthest of the Empire's capital ships positioned above Milopolis' atmosphere. Chaos was pinned and opted to use their heavy duty tom-foolery. Fleet ships were launched and tanks were thrown into the field. The Roman forces continued to fight valiantly. Escalation continued until both spawn-points were bombarded with nukes. The sim was reset and all participants removed. The Roman Forces could have been satisfied with their rightfully earned victory, but that's not how their gene-code is inscribed. The Romans would return.
                Having destroyed the Stargate that connected Chaos' network, it took a few minutes for the Romans to gain entry to the simulator once more. The worms from Coercion Combine managed to tap into the network, as they were able to spawn themselves among the resuming gunfire and invaded the simulator in mass. Hordes of Chaos and Coercion swarmed the field, disorienting the flow of combat. The Empire called upon their lords from the skies to cleanse this land once and for all(*3). Hellfire rained down upon the heads of heretics, witches, and worms. These zerglings were falling atop each-other, body piles building. It was then that the simulator shifted beneath the boots of the Romans, unable to withstand the amount of purging taking place. Time seemed to stand still. Bolts from every party present froze in place. The only movement to be noticed was the sweat dripping from the brows of our Brothers. Minutes passed between each shift in this so-called lag. Willpower was tested, and Coercion's was proven to be weak. Their retreat marked the second Roman victory, but the Romans did not stop. The purge of Chaos was not complete. The Emperor smiled upon his children that day.
                During this time, Third Tier Discen Dave Mantis was field promoted to that of Legius. Showing strength and courage as a Roman Legius, he continued to assist his brothers in combat and push alongside with them to a well-earned Roman victory!
I am looking for suggestions and what we can do differently or better. Just drop me a suggestion in the suggestion box located next to the Augustus Times Vendor in the Roman Lounge.
