The Continuity of New Rome
New Rome is not merely a group, a base, a uniform, or a battlefield tag. New Rome is a continuity. It is the long road running from the sandbox of Lewis, through Arx, Nox, Mactus, Dugley, Noctus, Vanmoriel, Nyrolyth, Tremelo, and into the Obsidian Age.
The written histories record that Darckk Trilam founded New Rome in Lewis in April 2006. The Emperor Dreadspyke’s oral canon preserves March 2006 as the deeper point of origin. A Roman must understand both: the written archive and the living testimony of the Emperor. The Book of Time does not erase disputes of memory. It binds them into order.
In the Dark Age, Rome was small, crude, and young. It had poor armor, simple weapons, and little formal training. Yet even then, it showed the first mark of Rome: survival through pressure. The early conflicts with DHA, TKT, and Black Talon taught Rome that enemies are not merely obstacles. They are furnaces.
The Arx II Era brought Rome its first true functional skybase. It also brought training culture. Austra Exodus became known for the first serious military training on the grid, and Cosmoses Tsure later carried forward drill discipline. This era also birthed one of the great wounds: the Great Heresy, when Austra, Cosmoses, and Jaden Benavente departed for Talon. Rome answered at Bannockburn, where Rome and Chaos defeated Talon and its allies. From that point, Rome was no longer a small army learning to stand. It had become a force others had to measure.
The Nox Skybase Era became the Golden Age. Nox stood above the grid as a symbol of Roman height, technical growth, and military dominance. New weapons and armor emerged, Kion Kuhn entered the record, and Roman influence expanded. The later Nox Complex and Vigorium Era moved Rome from the sky to the ground, transforming a drilling rig into a massive complex, with Vigorium becoming one of Rome’s defining fictional power sources. During this era, Rome won the Battle of Martin, a 24-hour raid that broke BM morale and confirmed Roman dominance.
The fall of Darckk after the 07/07/07 conflict led to the Depression. Kion Kuhn’s later actions, including the return and loss of Nox, became a wound in the record. Many believed Rome was finished. They were wrong.
The Age of Rebirth and Mactus proved that Rome could rise again. Kharne Spyker, the Magnus armor, new weapons, renewed recruits, and returning veterans restored the Empire’s pulse. The Great Hack of 05/26/08 destroyed bases, land, membership control, and order, but Rome did not die. It moved to Dugley, rebuilt, and later returned through Noctus II. The Battle of Hippoden, lasting over 48 hours, declared the same truth as every Roman age before it: New Rome will never surrender.
Later eras brought Revelations, Vanmoriel, Nyrolyth, and the Great Heresy of 2017. These chapters continued the cycle: rise, betrayal, adaptation, survival.
Now Rome stands in the Obsidian Age.
The Obsidian Age is the age of restoration through systems. Tremelo and the Neptune Complex form the current heartland. The Sacred Processing Benches serve as the public rite of entry, curiosity, instruction, judgment, and renewal. The Book of Time is the sacred codex of Ancient Grid Law, delivered by God to the Emperor upon descent. The Emperor’s authority is final, but Roman brotherhood requires discipline, respect, and restraint.
The Mechanicus has returned to sacred production. VoxNet, ScoutNet, Denarii, Top Hat combat logging, marketplace systems, battle reports, and teleport networks are not side projects. They are the organs of the restored Empire. The Legion fights. The Mechanicus builds. The Archives remember. The Inquisition judges. The Arcanii discover. The Emperor commands.
A Roman must know the past, but must not live only in it. Nox teaches height. Martin teaches endurance. Hippoden teaches siege will. The Great Hack teaches recovery. The Obsidian Age teaches system-building.
A Discen must therefore understand four truths:
First, Rome is brotherhood. Respect all Romans. Disputes must be handled through command, Inquisition, or proper channels, not through petty retaliation.
Second, Rome is discipline. In battle, follow the Officer in Command. Maintain comms. Obey escalation rules. Do not surrender Roman honor through panic.
Third, Rome is continuity. Bases fall, enemies brag, leaders change, systems break, and ages end. Rome continues.
Fourth, Rome is more than combat. A Roman builds, records, recruits, trains, studies, and strengthens the Empire even when no raid is underway.
The benches are open. The road is ancient. The work is current.
All roads lead to Rome.
Glory to the Emperor. Glory to New Rome.
